This form of therapy is ideal for those looking for a quick solution to their problem. Therapy is usually delivered between 1 to 6 sessions and is called brief therapy because it identifies and focuses on the solution to the problem. Therapy works towards helping the client resolve the problem rather than reflect on the reasons for the development of the problem, the history and cause of the problem. It is not necessary to discuss the problem for the therapy to be successful. The client and the therapist work together to generate possible solutions, helping to increase the client's choices to formalise a solution as quickly as possible. It is a positive goal seeking approach, where the therapist seeks out the client's strengths and supports the client to help them achieve their goal of what it is they want to be different in their life.
